Head over to Twitch to catch a new gallery of images from Julie Taymor’s upcoming adaptation of Shakespeare’s The Tempest. The Tempest is easily my favourite Shakespearian work, and I am fascinated by the endless film variations it has surfaced in. Amongst many others I would point to Greenaway’s Prospero’s Books, Derek Jarman’s 1979 version with Toyah Wilcox as Miranda, and MGM’s 1950s SF classic Forbidden Planet. Taymor has dealt spectacularly with Shakespeare before in her 1999 Titus.
