Lautreamont’s “Les Chants de Maldoror” is a remarkable proto-surrealist work full of bizarre and confronting imagery. It is, as John Coulthart says in his blog, “a book more deserving of illustration than most.” Coulthart has posted a number of images from the 1927 edition, created by Belgian Symbolist Frans De Geetere (1895-1968).
