NYTimes slideshow of the MakerBot, a new consumer-grade desktop 3D printer and some of the work done with it. The company that produces the printer are encouraging the participation of artists and an open source sharing culture. The MakerBot, which sells for around $1300, gives anyone with a computer the same creative control that engineers and designers have been harnessing with industry grade 3D printing.
